Marquee FAQ
- How do I work out how many people a marquee can accommodate?
It depends on a few factors: - -Will your guests be standing, seated theatre style or seated at tables? See the diagrams below each marquee for a guide.
- -Will you be using walls? If so, you may need to allow more room for aisles.
- -Do social distancing rules apply? If so use the square metres above to work out how many.
- -Do you need to allow space for serving tables, gift or cake tables?
Should I get walls? If so, how many?
It depends what you want the marquee for. Is it for protection from sun/heat, rain, wind or cold? If it's sun/heat then 1 wall facing the sunny side will give shade but still allows good air flow. For rain/wind/cold you may want up to 4 sides depending how heavy you expect it. As mentioned above walls may reduce capacity.
What if I have more people than your largest marquee can accommodate?
You could hire some smaller ones as well & put them together depending on whether you need them rain proof. We also have contact with a couple of other suppliers too that might be able to help so give us a call.
How are marquees classed under COVID rules?
According to the Hire & Rental Industry Association, a marquee with at least 2 walls open is classed as an outdoor space. As of 12/11/21 that means the 2 sqm rule applies.
Where can you install them?
On grass is the simplest. We would need to drive large stakes into the ground. We can do a "dial before you dig" search to ensure there's no underground utilities however we don't assume responsibility for any damage. We can install on hard surfaces but this requires weights which we charge extra for. The site needs to be reasonably level & not overly exposed to wind.
